KPM Parents
The parents or caregivers are the most important influence on the child and form the basis for the child's deep sense of security. Learning takes place all the time - at home and at school. The teachers and the parents need to work together for the child to grow into a healthy, happy and well-adjusted individual. Valuing the child, giving the child sufficient attention, making a supportive home environment and providing positive guidance all help children to learn and develop. The parents, like the teachers, may have to 'unlearn' habits from their own schooling and upbringing.
KPM teachers deal with any negative behaviour that the child may express in school, such as teasing, anxiety, fighting or using bad language. The teachers seek the cooperation of the parents in dealing with these issues at home. The school and the parents need to work together to identify and deal with the root cause of the problem. The teachers and parents regularly communicate and interact with each other in order to support the child's development through:
- Annual parent-school conferences
- As needed parent-school conferences
- Parent-school workshops
- Parent-school tours
- Telephone calls
- Informal communications
- The Parent Handbook issued to each parent in the school
